From the restaurant's website:"Aya Sofia, St. Louis's only Turkish restaurant, opened in October 2005 by Turkish chef Mehmet Yildiz and designer Alicia Aboussie. Our outstanding Turkish cuisine is distinctive, fresh, and healthy. We have many vegetarian dishes as well as lamb, beef, chicken and seafood. Aya Sofia offers a large variety of cold and hot meze (small plates) that are intended to be shared and will complement any of our entrees."
Full bar. Serving lunch Tue–Fri, dinner Tue–Sun. Sun brunch 10 am–2 pm. Closed Mon. Voted Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in the 2009 Sauce magazine readers' poll. "St. Louis' first Turkish restaurant arrived dressed in red. Its warm dining room and gauzily draped booths look very different from most local Mediterranean-type dining spots.
