Though it started out as a small neighborhood joint in 1983, Atlantic Beach's Ragtime Tavern Seafood & Grill has belonged to California-based national chain Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group (Big River Grille, Bluewater Grille) since 1998. As such, expect the same quality of above-average craft beers brewed on site – such as the delightfully named Dolphins Breath, Red Brick Ale and A. Strange Stout, with seasonal beers as well – not to mention some excellent pub grub. Ragtime Tavern specializes in Cajun-influenced seafood preparations and New Orleans gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. Entrée recommendations include hazelnut-crusted chicken, and seared tuna. Try Key lime cheesecake or beignets for dessert. Sunday brunch (11 am–4 pm) offerings include various egg dishes, including steak and eggs Benedict. Named one of Jacksonville Magazine's Hall of Fame Restaurants of 2009. Full bar. Kids menu, with excellent house-brewed root beer for the young and the old. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night daily. Sun brunch.
