Marching to the beat of a different drum, Café Tu Tu Tango fuses a love of food and an appreciation for quality art. Or is it love of art and appreciation for quality food? Either way, this Coconut Grove, Fla.-based Spanish tapas and small plates concept has taken the Orlando dining arena by storm since arriving on I-Drive in 1994. One of a handful of Café Tu Tu Tango locations across the country, this funky little eatery supports the local creative scene by providing artists with meals in exchange for their work. Borderline outrageous entertainment can range from balloon sculptors to magicians to sporadic song-and-dancesters wandering the dining room. Equally entertaining is the variety of gourmet Spanish tapas emerging from the kitchen throughout the night. Relax among friends or with a date, and order whatever suits your fancy that particular evening. (You'll fit right in with the whole bohemian theme.) From breads and spreads to pizzas and kabobs, Café Tu Tu's menu offers a vast array of creations. Although Spanish in concept, influences from around the globe provide some of the best choices, such as pot stickers, barbecued ribs and quesadillas. Try the roasted pears on pecan crisps salad, stuffed mushrooms, sesame-seared tuna sashimi or grilled baby lamb chops. The eclectic tapas are meant to be shared, but know that two per person is just about right for the standard appetite. Reservations suggested. Full bar features house-made sangria. Kids menu. Serving lunch and dinner daily.
