They take their beer seriously at Boscos, an award-winning brewpub mini-franchise that started in Memphis, expanded into Little Rock, Ark., and for many years has served as one of the anchors of Nashville's trendy Hillsboro Village neighborhood, with a Cool Springs location opened in summer 2008. Eight different small-batch beers from the on-site vats are always on tap: Try the Flaming Stone and Germantown Alt, or the Steinweizen when it's offered as a seasonal beer. A raucous treat is the tapping of the cask-conditioned keg every weekday about 5:30 pm. (One lucky customer gets to tap the keg and get the first pint free of charge.) The food more than holds its own with the brew: Favorites include the peppery calamari appetizer, the rib eye steak sandwich, the wood oven-planked salmon and any of the small, crispy, thin-crust pizzas from the imposing wood-burning oven near the back of the restaurant. Kids' menu. Full bar. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night daily. Sun brunch 10:30 am–3 pm.
