The North Side building that houses River Lane Inn has served Milwaukee in one way or another for more than 100 years. It began as a hardware store, satiated the sweet-toothed as an ice cream parlor, and delivered frosty refreshment as a bar. But since 1980, it has been the town's favorite seafood restaurant, offering the freshest fish, imaginatively prepared and paired with good California wines. The menu changes every six weeks to accomodate seasonal harvests, but you will consistently find such dishes as the catch-of-the-day salad, sautéed sand dabs and the calamari steak. Full bar. Serving lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Mon–Sat. Closed Sun.
