Jacksonville's best reproduction of a Jamaican or Key West tropical bar and grill, Neptune Beach's Caribbee Key fills the bill with well-prepared American-Caribbean cuisine, an open-air rum bar, and live reggae music on Friday and Saturday nights. Expect to hear a lot of Bob Marley music any other day of the week as you dine on island-friendly favorites such as jerk chicken, conch fritters and coconut shrimp. Other suggested starters include a Caribbean fruit plate, a bowl of roasted corn and crab chowder, or a goodie-packed Cobb salad with crab, grilled shrimp and apple-smoked bacon. Other finger food recommendations include burgers, crab cakes, mahi mahi or grouper sandwiches, quesadillas, pizza, and oyster or shrimp po-boys. Entrée selections include baby back ribs and pork tenderloin. Try Key lime pie or cheesecake for dessert. The full bar specializes in rum drinks, including mojitos and the signature Caribbean martini with vanilla vodka, coconut rum and blue curaçao.
