"Where there's a will, there's a way," goes the saying. And so thought two Boston natives whose determination to bring "real" pizza to the Islands resulted in highly successful local chain Boston's North End Pizza Bakery. A tribute to the casual joints of the East Coast, these high-energy neighborhood shops offer enormous hand-tossed, thin-crust pies that are as affordable as they are delicious. Nineteen inches and three pounds of thick dough, zesty sauce and generous portions of fresh toppings are high on taste but low on grease. And when they say "slice" for purchase, what they really mean is one-fourth of a whole pizza. So come hungry or with plenty of friends to enjoy everything from the classic pepperoni-sausage types to the sophisticated herb and cheese pizza blanco. The signature "Big Red" pie features a highly popular combination of diced tomatoes, whole leaf spinach, mushrooms and garlic that has been praised equally by BNE's vegetarian and carnivorous clientele. Don't forget to BYOB if you W-A-N-T. Reservations not accepted. Cash only. Hours vary by location. Voted Best Pizza in the 2008 The Honolulu Advertiser readers poll.
