Three generations of the Matarese family have been serving traditional southern Italian fare at Sardines Ristorante Italiano since it opened in 1978. When the restaurant moved to University Boulevard in 2001, it brought along its trademark jazz bar ambiance. Whether you're popping the question or simply satisfying your craving for lasagna, prepare to be pampered. Start with an antipasto of assorted meats, cheeses and marinated vegetables, followed by one of the superb house-made pasta dishes with a tantalizing sauce for your main course. For dessert, try a slice of cappuccino pie or Italian ice cream. Live jazz begins at 7 pm nightly. Full bar. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Late-night Fri–Sat.
