Dixie House Cafe, the "Home of the Big Buns," welcomes anyone who can handle a heap of country cooking and still have room for a slice of pie or cake. For more than 20 years, owner Theresa Simon has welcomed anyone who can't save room for dessert, too, of course. Maybe you should consider having your cake and eating it first, though, with a cup of fresh coffee – try the double fudge cake. Breakfast items include loaded omelets, pecan waffles, oatmeal, biscuits with gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Lunch and dinner offers such comfort food choices as pot roast with carrots and potatoes, crunchy fried catfish, chicken-fried steak, hamburger steak, meat loaf, pork chops, grilled chicken, and beef tips on rice, with sides that include mashed potatoes, pinto and green beans, spinach, and a giant basket of rolls. Pies come in creams, meringue, chocolate, coconut and fruit flavors. No alcohol available. Serving breakfast and lunch daily, dinner Mon–Sat.
