Stopping by Bialy's Bagels is like a taking a trip back in time. A classic Cleveland institution, the interior of this establishment looks just as it did in 1965 when it opened, with only slight remodeling done since that time. The bagel-making process, however, has changed just a bit. When founder Terry Skolnick moved from Manhattan to Cleveland, he and his small team made each and every bagel by hand. But with a solid investment in the ever-changing and growing technology, the shop now turns out 7,000 bagels a week. Bialy's offers no fewer than 15 different bagels and all the bialys you can handle. (A bialy is a flattened and crusty bread roll with a toasted, onion-topped center. It is flatter than a bagel, and, instead of a hole, it sports an indented center.) Options are top priority at this bread-making institution; whether or not your tastes stray from the traditional, this shop can satisfy your craving.
