From the restaurant's website:
"Situated within the grounds of Lincoln Park, at the edge of a pond overlooking Chicago's dramatic skyline, North Pond can easily claim the city's loveliest setting. The structure that houses North Pond was originally built in 1912 as a warming shelter for ice skaters, and has been redesigned according to the Arts and Crafts tradition. Chef Bruce Sherman holds true to the Arts and Crafts ideal in the culinary philosophy of North Pond restaurant. Drawing inspiration from the local market, he utilizes exceptional ingredients at the height of their season. Whenever possible, Chef Sherman supports small local farmers and treats their products with respect in his kitchen. The path from earth to plate remains clear and his cuisine reflects the décor of the dining room – complex layers of subtle craft beneath a simple, decorative style."
Full bar. Serving lunch Wed–Fri (June through September), dinner Tue–Sun. Sun brunch 10:30 am–1:30 pm. Closed Mon–Tue (January through April)
"North Pond is fine dining in every sense of the word. And the remodeling, the expansion that provides for more seating and an even more impressive view of the park and pond, is well done. I will tell you this: You had better get your dibs in early if you want a table in what the restaurant calls its 'year-round "outdoor" seating area.'"– Pat Bruno, Chicago Sun-Times
"Bruce Sherman, who is as attuned to the seasons as a migrating bird, is a chef of exquisite balance and understated style. His menus, which change frequently, make maximum use of local product; his cooking is contemporary American but is grounded in classical French training."
