A Washington, D.C., institution popular with politicians, locals and tourists alike, the local Clyde's chain of American Traditional restaurants/saloons opened a branch in Columbia on the banks of Lake Kittamaqundi in 1975, and it has been one of the Baltimore suburb's top dining attractions ever since. Rich, Victorian-style décor, top-notch service and a Wine Spectator magazine-honored wine list make for a sophisticated dining experience that doesn't break the bank – and the gorgeous lake view is just a bonus. Great vegetarian options usually include grilled or baked eggplant dishes or pasta such as the linguini with summer potatoes. Carnivores can dive into smoked ribs, marinated lamb kebabs or a grilled pork chop with Mediterranean trimmings. The kids' menu features grilled cheese, hot dogs and pizza, each with an ice cream sundae for dessert. Serving lunch and dinner daily. Sat–Sun brunch 11 am-4 pm.
