Fun-loving Canton favorite Nacho Mama's opened its doors on Elvis Presley's birthday in 1994, and the quirky dining room serves as a charming shrine to both the King and to Baltimore's good ol' days. Advertisements for National Bohemian beer – a local favorite – hang on the walls alongside Elvis-related clippings and Colts and Orioles memorabilia. Obviously, this is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant, and the menu echoes the décor's mix of Tex-Mex and Maryland fare. You'll start with a hubcap full of tortilla chips to munch on, but you can also try crab dip with a Tex-Mex twist, a garlic shrimp plate, or chicken strips with a pineapple dipping sauce. For the main course, order a gourmet quesadilla, with ingredients such as roasted red pepper and smoked Gouda, or fish tacos made with fresh tuna. A group of diners with different tastes will be well-accommodated here, as burritos, chimichangas, enchiladas and fajitas share the menu with American classics such as meat loaf and filet mignon. Margaritas – in pitchers or by the glass – are top-notch, and a nice selection of beers rounds out the drink menu. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night daily.
