At Ray's on the River, wooden beams and candlelight combine with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking lush Chattahoochee River greenery to remind patrons of the beauty of Atlanta. The upscale, seafood- and steak-centered menu can be enjoyed both in the chic dining room as well as on the more casual outdoor deck, the latter of which features live music. Ray's is best known for its signature Sunday brunch buffet, which features more than 80 items, including salads, peel-and-eat shrimp, vinaigrette-covered mussels, eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels with cream cheese, and breads. A carving station offers items such as ham, roast beef and whole salmon wrapped in puff pastry. You can also make your own omelet or waffle, before stopping by the ice cream station. Chef-prepared items change weekly, but lunch and dinner offerings may include stone crab claws or crab-stuffed mushrooms as starters, and lobster rolls, fried shrimp and grilled mahi mahi as entrées. Ray's on the River has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence a number of times, a Consumers' Choice Award as Most Upscale Seafood Restaurant, and Best Brunch from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Creative Loafing. Reservations not accepted for brunch. Arrive early for riverside seats. Two other locations: Ray's Killer Creek (1700 Mansell Road, Alpharetta) and Ray's in the City (240 Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta), although no Sunday brunch at the Ray's in the City location.
